ISLAMABAD According to sources who spoke with Geo News on Wednesday, the federal cabinet did not debate the government’s plan to outlaw the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during its meeting.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the federal cabinet today, during which a number of other significant subjects were covered.
Furthermore, there was no discussion of the accusations brought under Article 6 (treason) against Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, Arif Alvi, the former president, and Qasim Suri, the deputy speaker of the National Assembly.
There were rumors that following the announcement by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar that the government has decided to move forward with its “principled” decision, the issue of prohibiting the party created by Imran Khan would be discussed by the cabinet today.
The minister’s comments come after he declared last week that the “PTI and Pakistan could not co-exist” and that the previous ruling party would be banned.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared in his speech after the meeting that no one would be permitted to work against Pakistan, its people, or its army.
Recalling the events of May 9 and the PTI’s crimes against the nation, its citizens, and the Pakistan Army, the premier made these remarks.
He said that the army chief and his family had been disparaged on the PTI’s official website. “We will not back down to protect Pakistan’s interests,” he stated.
PM Shehbaz also discussed and denounced the recent attack on the Pakistani consulate in Germany.
