In order to discuss the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planned demonstration in Islamabad’s D-Chowk, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has convened an urgent meeting at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar at 3 PM today.
Originally planned on October 15, the protest falls on the same dates as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, which takes place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.
The PTI had earlier declared that it would be delaying its protests in Punjab in favor of holding a protest during the SCO conference in Islamabad. Strict security measures have been implemented in Islamabad as a result of the summit, including a three-day school closure and a five-day restaurant closure.
Leader of the PTI Sheikh Waqas declared on X (formerly Twitter) that representatives of the national and provincial assemblies from all four regions will be present at the meeting.
