The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally agreed to nominate members from both chambers of parliament in order to join the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
After a special meeting of the PTI’s political committee, a statement was released. The meeting covered the Speaker of the National Assembly’s letter on the subject as well as the opposition’s nomination of two members to the panel.
The briefing described the 13-member Judicial Commission’s enlarged duties. Appointing judges to the Supreme Court, High Courts, and Federal Shariat Court, monitoring the performance of High Court judges and creating yearly performance reports, suggesting qualified applicants for High Court judges, and setting up benches in the Supreme Court and High Court are now among these duties.
