ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has contested and attempted to declare “illegal” the rulings made by the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Committee when senior puisne judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah was away.
PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi, through his attorney Syed Ali Zafar, filed a plea in the highest court to contest the rulings of the committee established by the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act, 2023 on September 23 and October 1.
The petition designated the registrar of the supreme court and the secretary of interior as respondents.
The SC Practice and Procedure Committee’s decision made on the aforementioned dates was prayed for by the former ruling party to be overturned by the highest court.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) is the head of the aforementioned committee.
