In a significant move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s request to host a public event at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8 was denied by the Lahore municipal district administration late Thursday.
Citing security concerns, the deputy commissioner refused permission.
As the former ruling party declared February 8 (Saturday), the first anniversary of the “rigged general elections,” to be a “Black Day,” the development occurred.
“The decision to not allow the rally was made to maintain a law and order situation,” the Lahore DC said in a statement.
According to the DC, there are significant events planned for February 8 in Lahore, including a horse and cattle exhibition, an international speaker conference, and a cricket match.
