A turbulent scene played out in the Senate on Tuesday when Falak Naz, a female senator from the PTI, received a two-day suspension for disparaging independent senator Faisal Vawda.
Senator Naz was suspended by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani when independent Senator Vawda was speaking.
Speaking to the Senate, Vawda expressed his displeasure with the use of derogatory language in public, saying, “We cannot remain silent while such language is being used.”
Saying that no one has the right to use harsh language in the House, he demanded that Falak Naz be taken out of the chamber by the Sergeant-at-Arms.
The independent senator emphasized that merely removing Naz’s remarks was “insufficient” and requested that her membership be suspended. He declared, “I will retaliate with even harsher language if Falak Naz is not suspended.”
