The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee resolved to fully disassociate itself from today’s session of the parliamentary special committee on the selection of the country’s new chief justice during a late-night meeting in Islamabad.
PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram reiterated the party’s position to abstain from the proceedings by confirming that no party member will attend the committee meeting.
Additionally, in violation of party policy, the PTI intends to impose severe disciplinary measures on its members who supported the 26th constitutional amendment in parliament. All of these members’ memberships were canceled with approval from the political committee.
