ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), received notification on Thursday that he has joined the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi supported Gohar’s nomination, which was put out by National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub.
Following Ayub’s resignation from the PTI, Gohar joined the JCP. Likewise, a day prior to Senator Shibli Faraz’s resignation, Senator Barrister Ali Zafar was also informed as a member.
Both PTI leaders have insisted that they left their posts because of the numerous charges brought against them after the PTI demonstration in Islamabad descended into violence.
Last month, Faraz and Ayub were nominated alongside two other members of the upper and lower chambers.
