With immediate effect, the Karachi commissioner has banned all forms of public gatherings, including rallies, marches, and demonstrations, as well as pillion riding, in District Central under Section 144 from December 9 to 10.
On Monday, the additional inspector general (AIG) of the city requested the ruling.
According to the notification, the Karachi Police AIG warned that “miscreant and disgruntled elements may disturb the peace and tranquillity and can create law and order situation in District Central” in a letter sent yesterday.
To avoid any undesirable circumstance, the Karachi government therefore banned gatherings of more than four people and pillion riding for two days.
