LAHORE: After spending a year and a half in prison, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a key leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has demanded justice.
Qureshi remarked, “If I am guilty, punish me… if I am innocent, grant me relief,” in an unofficial media appearance before a Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday. He is being detained at Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The former foreign minister, Qureshi, urged for dialogue and criticized the government’s handling of political dissent. “The PTI is a major political party, and banning it would be foolish,” he stated.
Qureshi also called for the creation of a judicial panel to look into what happened on May 9, 2023, and hold those involved accountable.
The municipal and military installations were targeted by criminals during the May 9 protests.
