Due to allegations that bribes were made in order to get the esteemed positions, a significant issue has emerged surrounding the appointment of vice-chancellors in Punjab’s institutions. The Academic Staff Association (ASA) at Punjab University has set an emergency meeting for tomorrow after the teachers’ association allegedly called a meeting to offer bribes to the Education Minister for these appointments.
In a statement, the ASA expressed its grave worry about media reports claiming that a number of academics had paid bribes to public servants in order to be appointed vice chancellors. The association denounced the behavior, calling it a shame to higher education. They demanded severe penalties for anybody who bribed for these kinds of appointments.
Secretary ASA has insisted that the identities be made public by the Education Minister.
