LAHORE: Punjab’s government on Wednesday issued a warning to the proprietors and guiding principles of private schools in Lahore not to require parents of children to give money aside from the monthly school fees or to purchase books and clothes from precisely designated stores.
The District Registration Authority, under the signature of Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, sent a notice to private schools that read as follows: “The Punjab Private Educational Institutions (Promotion and Regulation) Ordinance 1984, Sections 7A(7} and (10), permits the private school to charge only tuition and admission fees; it cannot compel the children to buy books and uniforms from a specific vendor or provider.”
