Strong disappointment with IG Punjab Usman Anwar’s slow response to reports of harassment of female students at educational institutions was voiced by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court questioned IG Anwar’s activities at a hearing today, focusing on his department’s inability to stop a viral video from encouraging protesters.
“Where were you on October 14 and 15?” said the Chief Justice. Why didn’t you intervene to stop the students from heading to the streets and stop the video from becoming viral?
When the court called IG Anwar, he justified his actions, saying that they got in touch with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) as soon as they learned about the viral content.
