LAHORE: Punjab, the biggest province in Pakistan, has implemented a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and transportation of plastic, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announced on Tuesday.
“Today, plastic bag usage is prohibited in its initial phase. The minister stated during a World Environment Day celebration in the province capital that the government has a policy against plastic bags.
The minister continued by saying that the government would deal with people who burn tires and plastic. The minister said, “We also need to amend the motor vehicle ordinance.”
The announcement and description of plastic as a cause of cancer and other ailments by the province administration in April before the current development.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz discussed her thoughts on the government’s decision and stated that the plastic ban will be severely implemented, especially in hotels, restaurants, and cafes.
The Chief Medical Officer emphasized that the “no to plastic” campaign aims to reduce environmental pollution and promote eco-friendly efforts while also highlighting the detrimental impacts of plastic on human health and the environment.
