According to the Punjab Health Department, the shocking death toll for youngsters this year alone has reached 455.
The tragic toll includes two youngsters from Lahore, three from Faisalabad, and two from Bahawalpur, demonstrating the illness’s pervasive impact across multiple regions. Sheikhupura also lost two children, and Gujranwala, Multan, and Rawalpindi all lost one child to pneumonia.
Three hundred and four children were diagnosed with pneumonia in Punjab in less than 24 hours, highlighting the critical need for care and assistance. Over 29,000 pneumonia cases have been reported in the region this year, with Lahore alone seeing 141 youngsters hospitalized in a single day.The Punjab Health Department has urged parents to ensure their children complete the vaccine course. Immunization remains one of the most effective preventive interventions against pneumonia and other infectious diseases, providing critical protection for vulnerable children.
