After Lahore’s 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) dropped abnormally, the Punjab Environment Protection Department issued a smog notice for the state on Sunday. The drop also had an impact on visibility in the provincial capital.
With the AQI hitting an exceptionally low level, Lahore continued to lead the list of the world’s most polluted cities, a sign of the declining air conditions in the province capital.
A Swiss air quality technology business called IQAir reports that the Punjab capital’s AQI fell as low as 700 this morning (Sunday) before rising to 537 as the state struggles with rising haze as winter approaches.
