LAHORE: On Wednesday, the Punjab government modified the regular school schedule for the summer to shield students from the intense heat.
The Punjabi provincial education department announced in a notification that on Fridays, regular sessions would end at 11:45 am, but schools in the province would be open from 7:45 am to 1:15 pm.
As a result, double-shift schools throughout the province will continue to operate from 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and from 12:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
To safeguard the convenience and safety of students, the provincial authorities used to adjust school schedules based on the weather and the state of law and order.
The government had already announced that the winter school schedule will be altered, with the new dates going into force from February to April 15.
Regular classes for boys in the provincial capital and neighboring cities were scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the extreme cold wave, while classes for girls were scheduled from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
