LAHORE: In an effort to increase road safety, the Punjab government has set a 60 km/h speed limit for motorcyclists across the state, according to a Friday story in The News.
Section 75(2) of the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1960, is being used to carry out this decision, which was adopted during the 22nd Provincial Cabinet meeting on January 14, 2025.
The Additional Inspector General of Police (Traffic) and district traffic officers are among the pertinent authorities instructed to guarantee strict compliance by a notification issued by the Transport and Mass Transit Department and signed by Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch.
Additionally, the Punjab Emergency Services Department has been instructed to submit statistics on motorcycle accidents every two weeks for the Chief Minister’s Office to analyze.
