The vice chancellor of Punjab University has mandated that all air conditioners (AC) be taken out of the residence halls.
The administration made the decision because it is concerned about the unauthorized use of ACs, which has caused the institution to suffer large financial losses.
Numerous dorm occupants have been running their air conditioners for extended periods of time without paying for their electricity bills, according to sources at universities. The university is suffering greatly financially as a result of this habit. According to administration officials, unrestrained electricity use has been costing the university hundreds of thousands of rupees each month.
The administration went on to say that using ACs on hostel property is not allowed.
