The Punjab administration has made a request for the Pakistan Army and Rangers to be sent throughout the province to maintain peace and order during Muharram.
This action is a component of a larger strategy to sustain security throughout the critical holy month period.
According to sources, the federal government has been requested to hire 160 companies of the Pakistan Army and Rangers by the Punjab Home Department. Particularly, from 1 to 10 Muharram, 81 Pakistan Rangers companies and 79 Army companies have been asked to ensure security.
These troops will be dispersed around the Punjabi areas in order to handle any possible security issues.
