LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz-led administration approved the “Roshan Gharana” scheme, which will give solar panels to millions of people who use between 50 and 500 units of power, in an attempt to give inexpensive electricity to the poor affected by inflation.
According to an official statement, the development occurred on Monday during the province cabinet meeting in Lahore, which was presided over by Chief Minister Maryam.
With the government paying 90% of the cost of the solar panels and consumers covering the remaining 10%, the province administration hopes to encourage the use of renewable energy sources.
Notably, customers will receive the solar panels in convenient five-year installments.
An assembly of the Punjab government has been called for tomorrow (Tuesday).
