The Punjab administration has said that officers who disobey the chief minister’s orders will face harsh consequences. Deputy commissioners (DCs) who disobey directives from the CM’s office are the target of this decision.
Official sources claim that deputy commissioners who disobey orders will lose their positions and be ineligible for any future assignments. These officers would be officially labeled as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) for the duration of the PML-N government, thereby removing them from active administrative positions.
A thorough evaluation procedure has been developed by the chief minister’s office to gauge the deputy commissioners’ performance. They will be asked a series of thirty-one in-depth questions—a considerable increase over the nine that were asked earlier.
DCs will be fired right away if they don’t perform up to the chief minister’s house standards, particularly if they can’t keep inflation under control.
The officers that are removed will not be able to be reappointed to their positions, and the extensive questioning will cover a wide variety of performance measures. The purpose of this policy is to improve Punjab’s administrative machinery’s efficiency and ensure accountability.
