The singer was rightly given a 20-year prison sentence, a Chicago judge decided Friday.
In 2022, he was found guilty on three counts of creating photos of child sexual abuse and three counts of luring kids into sexual encounters.
Kelly,57, claimed in his appeal that the statute of limitations that was in place in Illinois at the time—which mandated that child sex crime accusations be prosecuted within ten years—should have been applied instead of the current statute that allows charges to be brought while the accuser is still alive.
The appeals court rejected this, stating that Kelly was trying to totally avoid the accusations by “employing a complex scheme to keep victims quiet.”
