Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and a member of the Indian Congress, sent Darood Sharif upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and quoted the Holy Quran on Monday during an assembly.
Rahul added, “It is written in the [Holy] Quran the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him said, ‘God said have no fear [for] I am with you, hearing and seeing.'” speaking from the lower house floor.
The statements were made as the leader of the Congress attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for inciting violence, fear, and hatred.
The opposition leader emphasized that, contrary to their claims to be Hindu, the BJP leaders actually propagate hatred, and that is not the essence of the faith.
Rahul asserted that all great leaders have talked about eradicating fear and using nonviolence.
The opposition leader’s remarks infuriated the Indian prime minister and his party, which prompted Modi to seek an apology, citing the seriousness of labelling the entire Hindu society as “violent”.
