Mahira openly discussed how the criticism left her feeling heartbroken and unsure about her future in an interview with the BBC Asian Network.
She recalled, “I read an article and thought, ‘Is my career over?'” in reference to a piece that raised concerns about her future after the controversy.
The emotional toll was severe; Mahira acknowledged that she was so overcome by the circumstances that she found it difficult to leave her bed for days.
Every day I was crying. It has an impact on both my personal and professional lives,” she said.
