Ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference, the federal government has said that it will be deploying Rangers to provide security in Islamabad’s Red Zone.
The dates of this two-day summit are set for October 15–16.
Sources claim that paramilitary Rangers will be posted on all interior highways and outside major government buildings in the Red Zone, which is home to important legislative, executive, and judicial branches as well as foreign embassies.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a meeting where the security measures were examined and agreed. Naqvi mentioned that a number of heads of state and government will be present for the summit.
