Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, is thinking of making more layoffs at the team.
With United losing about £300 million over the last three years—a loss that one insider called “unsustainable”—senior insiders indicated the club is considering additional cost-cutting measures.
United has not refuted rumors that the Ratcliffe-chaired Ineos Group, one of the co-owners, is considering contemplating 100–200 layoffs.
It is yet unclear how many employees will go, when, and which departments will be impacted, but a decision is anticipated within two weeks.
Although club officials are sure they will continue to have a presence in the city to promote and sell to international partners, United may potentially close their Kensington office in London.
