On Wednesday in Rawalpindi, the government and Jamaat-e-Islami wrapped up their second round of negotiations. The deputy ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaquat Baloch, said that the government’s negotiation team agreed with all of their arguments and guaranteed them of progress in the right direction.
The negotiating delegation from the government and a technical team convened at the Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi. Liaquat Baloch led the Jamaat-e-Islami, while Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Amir Muqam comprised the government’s negotiating team.
Baloch informed the media after the negotiations that while the government’s negotiating team had asked for the sit-in to end, Jamaat-e-Islami had made it plain that the sit-in will carry on.
