After receiving a lot of backlash for her performance at the Olympics in Paris, Australian breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn said she was retiring from performance.
Despite receiving a lot of attention for her unusual routine—which featured fun kangaroo jumps and sprinkler-like moves—the 37-year-old was not impressed by the judges and was widely ridiculed online.
On social media and late-night television, Gunn’s distinctive look and her vivid green tracksuit were ridiculed, leading to conspiracy theories over her Olympic selection.
She said the criticism was “really upsetting” and had caused her to reevaluate her competitive future after reflecting on the severe scrutiny.
“I’m not going to compete any more,” Gunn said in an interview with the Australian radio station 2DayFM.
