The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has expedited a project aimed at improving VIP routes in the city, with a budget now totaling Rs31.3 million, up from an initial allocation of Rs3.7 million, in anticipation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference, which is scheduled for October 15 and 16.
The RDA plans to award the contract by a single tender as opposed to the customary open e-tendering procedure, which is a significant divergence from usual procedure. The project includes just one business, Tech Construction, that has been chosen to submit a bid; the deadline for submissions is September 29.
According to RDA representatives, the impending conference and tight deadlines were the primary factors in the decision to raise the budget and use a single tender.
