ISLAMABAD: In order to have a meaningful conversation, the government and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are reactivating their backchannel communications.
An knowledgeable source expressed hope that these interactions may be made quickly and lead to some beneficial outcomes. Regarding a seven-member committee that Imran Khan established for communication with the government and political parties, these interactions are not the same as what is being reported publicly.
These backchannel connections are the same ones who participated in informal behind-the-scenes talks last month to stop the PTI’s protest march to D-Chowk on November 24. Imran Khan was aware of the government men his party leaders were speaking with, but he refused to give their identities when journalists pressed him.
