Potential tax cuts to lessen the burden on the nation’s salaried class were hinted to by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Speaking at the Pakistan Business Council’s (PBC) “Dialogue on the Economy,” Aurangzeb admitted that salaried workers bear an unfair share of the tax burden and recommended that the current tax bands be reviewed. He made it clear that this was a personal opinion and did not offer any firm promises.
However, the minister promised to make the tax filing procedure easier for salaried people in order to create a more efficient experience. He emphasized that the government’s fiscal year 2025-2026 budget process, which starts in early January, will give plenty of time for in-depth talks and consultations with business chambers in February and March. By April, feedback is anticipated.
