According to an Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) assessment that was partially redacted and made public on Tuesday, “efforts by Iran to assassinate former President Donald Trump and other former U.S. officials” are “likely to persist after voting ends, regardless of outcome.”
Trump’s team claimed in September that intelligence agencies had alerted the Republican candidate to “real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him.”
The United States has taken extraordinary measures to shield the former president from Iranian reprisals for General Qassem Soleimani’s death.
Iran, which recently attacked Trump’s campaign and attempted to spread false information to Democrats and the media, has threatened to kill both Trump and his top officials who approved the strike in 2020.
Politico claims that over $150 million annually has also been spent on shielding former U.S. Central Command chief Gen. Kenneth McKenzie and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Additionally, the source stated that Russia loves Trump and will keep attacking Harris, while Iran favors Vice President Kamala Harris and will concentrate its efforts on thwarting Trump.
