PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Shehryar Afridi expressed his frustration on Sunday regarding the internal problems of the political party and stated that he was keeping quiet for the sake of party unity and respect for Imran Khan, the party’s founder.
Speaking with PTI employees in Peshawar, Afridi stated that it would be best for him to remain silent due to certain things that were happening within the party. “We should embrace the party’s code of conduct, even though I can’t express to you the suffering I am going through,” he declared.
While acknowledging that he was holding off on speaking until the appropriate moment, he also noted that there were some topics on which remaining silent would be “criminal”.
Afridi that he was expecting to meet Imran Khan after the party founder rejected his request for a meeting on May 24.
He declared, “Enough is enough; if we are sincere, we have to make sure the PTI founder is released.”
After Khan was imprisoned following the violent events on May 9, there have been several rifts within the PTI.
Initially, the conflict was centered over the political and legal leadership of the party, but eventually, Sher Afzal Marwat emerged as the focal point.
On March 25, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserted that the PTI was experiencing “internal strife,” referring to a power struggle inside the party’s ranks that could result in the party’s dissolution or the emergence of a front block.
