Vermont state lawmaker Mary Morrissey has expressed regret to Jim Carroll for spilling water on the tote bag he had hanging in a Statehouse hallway.
Mr. Carroll remarked, “It was relentless,” and he expressed his degree of confidence that Ms. Morrissey, whom he frequently accused of mistreating him, was the source.
On the wall across from where his bag was hanging, he placed a video camera beneath a scarf, and on April 23 and 26, he recorded Ms. Morrissey adding water from a glass to the bag.
After the Democratic representative showed House Speaker Jill Krowinski the video, she went up to Ms. Morrissey.
Regarding “her disrespectful conduct,” Ms. Morrissey stated, “I am truly ashamed for my actions.”
She apologized to the Democrat, her colleagues, and the people of Vermont during her Monday speech to the House. She also promised to work toward “resolution and restoration”.
However, she has not provided an explanation for her continued wetting of Mr. Carroll’s bag.
Mr. Carroll responded by telling the chamber that while he could sense the sincerity in her voice, Ms. Morrissey “went through this for five months,” and that she always had a choice in what she did.
