CNN reported that the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, left dozens of others injured in addition to the four dead, citing anonymous law enforcement officials informed on the situation. Not all wounds looked to be from gunshots; others seemed to be from those harmed during the escape.
According to a statement from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, one suspect was in arrest.
During a brief press conference held on school property, Sheriff Jud Smith declared, “What we see behind us is an evil thing today.” Smith will only state that there were “multiple injuries” from the incident, declining to acknowledge any deaths.
A representative for Barrow County Schools stated that the situation seemed to be under control and that pupils were being released at noon.
