A Pakistani researcher at ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center (HIC) in China made significant progress when he introduced a rechargeable battery with a remarkable long lifespan and lightning-fast charging speed.

“There is a need for an alternative solution,” stated Dr. Mohammed Yousaf in an interview, showcasing his most recent creation. “Driven by the high costs associated with conventional dry batteries and the expensive nature of lithium, which is widely used in batteries globally.”

Sodium is a cheap, readily available substance that has a lot of potential applications. Using sodium-based technology, our rechargeable battery can save thirty to forty percent of the cost.

According to him, a variety of products, including as laptops, electric automobiles, electric motorcycles, and mobile devices, can benefit from its enhanced discharge rate and extended lifespan.

By creating a battery that can power electric vehicles for 400–500 km, Yousaf further demonstrated his lofty goal of revolutionizing long-distance travel—a ground-breaking accomplishment in the industry.

Significant progress has been made by Dr. Yousaf and his colleagues to commercialize their battery invention. He said, “We have already brought our battery to the Chinese market.”

“Oil, gas, and coal are the main resources used to produce energy and electricity in Pakistan and around the world, which causes serious pollution and the quick depletion of these limited resources. The future belongs to hydropower, wind energy, and solar cells, Yousaf claimed.

Speaking about the state of the world’s energy, he emphasized how critical it is to have access to renewable energy sources.

“The focus should be on developing affordable batteries capable of supporting these green initiatives.””I wish to collaborate with Pakistani universities in the research and development of new energy batteries and become involved in the energy sector of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project,” he continued.
