According to what News understands, Mr. Reynolds wrote to Board of Trade members in August to inform them that a change in government presented a chance to renew the organization’s membership and mandate.
In September 2023, Kemi Badenoch, the business secretary at the time and current candidate for the Conservative Party leadership, appointed the preceding group of members.
Among them were Anya Hindmarch, the CEO and chairman of UMG, Sir Nicholas Lyons, a former Lord Mayor who currently leads Phoenix Group, and Tufan Erginbilgic, the Rolls-Royce.
According to reports, Mr. Reynolds, who holds the position of president of the Board of Trade, intends to name a new slate of members in the fall.
Its members were appointed to terms of one or two years, as an insider in the government pointed out.
The Board of Economics was resurrected in 2017 after lying dormant for many years, having been founded in the 17th century as a means of fostering international economic ties.
