The long-awaited reunion performances of Oasis in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Dublin next year will feature the former frontman of The Verve alongside Liam and Noel Gallagher.
“As a fan from day one, I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’s return was announced,” Ashcroft wrote in a social media statement.
I can honestly claim that Liam’s unadulterated enthusiasm as a lead singer and Noel’s compositional prowess inspired me to write some of my best songs.
I’m prepared to contribute additional memories now that it’s time to do so. See you in the summer of next year. Power is music.
The hit song “Live Forever” by Oasis compelled Ashcroft, the creator of the iconic songs “Bitter Sweet Symphony,” “The Drugs Don’t Work,” and “Lucky Man,” to “try and write my own.” He also added that the band “dared to be great.”
A brief video montage of Ashcroft with Noel and Liam Gallagher over the years was shown during Monday’s announcement, with the Verve song Sonnet playing over the top.
Over the years, the musicians have shown respect for one another; Noel dedicated Cast No Shadow from the 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? to Ashcroft, who was born in Wigan.
