The University of Kentucky swimmer Gaines, a 12-time All-American, became well-known in conservative circles in 2022 after she tied transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the 200-yard NCAA freestyle championship and wouldn’t keep quiet about having to compete against a man of birth. Since then, she has amassed over a million followers on X and hundreds of thousands more on other platforms, making her one of the most significant and well-known supporters of women’s rights in America.
I find it incredible that I’ve now attained more than a million fans on X alone for stating something that in the almost 250 years since our founding.
She then added, “But in the world and the time that we live in today, it is considered controversial.” I’m only stating that men and women are not the same.
In addition, Gaines writes the best-selling book “Swimming Against the Current,” presents the “Gaines for Girls” podcast on OutKick, oversees the Riley Gaines Center at the Leadership Institute, and meets with lawmakers nationwide on a monthly basis. She is also an ambassador for the Independent Women’s Forum.
“I never intended to be in this position. It’s not something I ever planned for. I never made an effort to pursue it. But I see a need,” Gaines remarked.
