The prime minister described his North Yorkshire constituency as “wonderful” and stated that he will remain in parliament regardless of the outcome of the election.
There has been conjecture that Mr Sunak, who previously worked at a hedge fund in California, is looking for work in Silicon Valley as the Conservatives battle to catch up with Labour.
When asked on Loose Women if he would stay on the backbenches if his party lost, the MP for Richmond (Yorks) replied, “Of course I’m staying. I enjoy being an MP. I love my constituents and my home in North Yorkshire.”
Mr. Sunak was first elected to Parliament in 2015.
Some of his predecessors, such as Liz Truss and Theresa May, remained as backbenchers after leaving office.
Others, however, have chosen to leave politics after being removed from their positions of power.
