Four major oil refineries have issued a warning, stating that the excessive storage of diesel poses a substantial risk to Pakistan’s oil supply system.
The refineries wrote to the petroleum secretary expressing worry that the amount of diesel in storage has surpassed 770,000 tons, or more than 50 days’ supply, and that this is a key point.
Refineries warned that any extra imports could cause supply chain instability and negatively impact the economy, thus they urged the government to stop or delay future diesel imports throughout September.
The letter stressed that the oversupply needed to be addressed immediately, and that if it isn’t, it might become dangerous.
