PESHAWAR: As the death toll from a week-long wave of violence climbed to over 100, officials said that feuding tribes in Kurram agreed to a new 10-day ceasefire on Wednesday.
“A 10-day ceasefire between the warring parties in Kurram has come into effect as of today,” a statement from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s office in Kurram stated.
The truce was also discussed at a meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. In addition to the statement stating that security preparations and standard operating procedures were being produced for safe travel in the area, the conference promised to provide an estimate to make up for the losses in the region.
