According to Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, defender Cristian Romero has expressed regret for his criticism of the team’s owners.
In an interview with Spanish station Telemundo Deportes on Sunday following his team’s dismal 4-3 loss to Chelsea, despite leading 2-0, the Argentine center-back bemoaned the club’s recent lack of investment.
Romero, who signed a permanent contract with Spurs in 2022 following a season-long loan from Atalanta, explained that “something is going wrong; hopefully, they [the board] realise it” in reference to rival clubs’ expenditure in comparison to Tottenham’s.
“He realizes that a lot of what he said was good, but some wasn’t the right way to deal with it,” Postecoglou stated. In the same manner, I wouldn’t openly criticize a player.
