Former US President Donald Trump maintained his opposition to arming Ukraine, citing historical instances of Russian wars with other countries and how Moscow had beaten its opponents in the past, including Hitler and Napoleon.
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, was speaking on Fox News and referred to Russia as a “war machine”.
“I’m feeling very bad…” Remember this: you’re up against a military machine in Russia. This is what they do. “They’ve defeated Hitler and Napoleon,” Trump, 77, remarked Tuesday.
The business billionaire is presently heading his party’s primary campaign to oppose incumbent President Joe Biden in November of this year.
While repeating his statements about the war, the criminally indicted former president stated that if he had been in the White House, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia would not have occurred. He also stated that he might cease hostilities within 24 hours.
While addressing at the Town Hall, he stated that the Russia-Ukraine war affects Europe, not the United States, and that they should do more to defend Kyiv.
“We have an ocean between us. They don’t have that ocean,” Trump said, adding: “You know why they haven’t paid? Because nobody asked them.”
The US Senate just approved a $95 billion aid package, which includes cash for Ukraine, but its status in the House of Representatives is questionable. Mike Johnson, House Speaker, has decided not to bring it to a floor vote adds to the challenges faced by Kyiv.
Earlier this month, in a social media post, Trump referenced a border security bill and $60 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine, saying: “Don’t be STUPID!!! We need a separate Border and Immigration Bill. It should have nothing to do with foreign aid!”
“This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats and a death wish for the Republican Party,” Trump remarked on his Truth Social platform to his party’s congressional representatives.
