The Waterford resident Ruth Purcell Healy is charged with killing Matthew Healy on February 8 or 9 in the village of Rathmoylan.
When the 37-year-old showed up in Waterford District Court on Tuesday night, she was placed under remand in custody at the Limerick prison.
After a police search, Matthew was discovered early on Friday morning in a car close to a seaside cove.
After being brought to University Hospital Waterford, he was declared dead at 2 a.m., despite the physicians’ best attempts to stabilize him.
A Garda representative stated that investigators are still looking into the death.
Matthew, a local football player with Faithlegg’s Park Rangers AFC, has received tributes.
“It is with great sadness that we learned about the tragic passing of one of our players this week,” a club spokesperson stated.
“Matthew played for our under-7 team. Coaches and teammates will truly miss him. We are praying for his family during this unbearably trying time.”
