Taif, a charming valley in Saudi Arabia about 40 miles from Makkah that is renowned for its lush gardens and hilly landscape, has a unique place in Islamic history.
The city is well known for being the location where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) suffered while spreading Islam. He prayed for the people rather than seeking punishment, demonstrating incredible patience and mercy in the face of hostility from nearby tribes.
Masjid Abbas, close to the old Taif wall, is one of Taif’s most significant historical landmarks. It is there that the Prophet (PBUH) was wounded by a group of young men after he invited Arab chieftains to Islam.
