On Wednesday, a Supreme Court constitutional bench held a hearing regarding the application of the historic ruling in the Asghar Khan case.
The Additional Attorney General told the court during the hearings that the FIA had concluded its investigation into the issue since it had not discovered any proof of money distribution among lawmakers. Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi responded by stating that the accusations concern well-known political leaders and inquiring as to whether the disbursed sums were retrieved.
As mandated by the court’s previous ruling, Justice Jamal Mandokhail questioned if the heads of intelligence services had provided affidavits attesting to the dissolution of political cells.
The court was reassured by the Additional Attorney General that the Constitution and the law prohibit intelligence services from getting involved in politics.
