ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court sent the matter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi about the establishment of a full court on the authority of committees that determine whose cases are scheduled before benches after rescinding the contempt notice against Additional Registrar (Judicial) Nazar Abbas.
We discover that the Additional Registrar (Judicial) did not purposefully evade the court order’s directive to fixate the cases before the bench [….] The 20-page ruling from the two-judge panel, which included Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, stated, “The show-cause notice issued against him for contempt proceeding is discharged.”
The case involves a challenge to the provisions of the Custom Act of 1969 as well as the legal quandary that results from improper case setting.
