The Supreme Court has received a petition opposing the proposed amendments to the Pakistani Constitution, just as the government attempts to present a contentious constitutional amendment bill.
The opposition parties, particularly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), are fiercely opposed to the government’s proposed constitutional amendment bill, which would significantly alter Pakistan’s judicial and parliamentary systems. This is the source of political unrest in the nation.
A constitutional petition under Article 184(3) has been filed, requesting that the Supreme Court declare the proposed revisions “ultra vires” of the Constitution, the concept of separation of powers, the independence of the judiciary, and the fundamental rights guaranteed in law.
